Overcoming by the Waters of Peace

Shalom and Erev Tov,

As I was preparing to fix dinner,  I was talking to my wife Rivkah about each other’s day and she had mentioned the fact that she wanted to write something on Psalm 119 in our blog.  Yesterday morning, we read Psalm 119 together and just the presence of Father in that Psalm has lingered over into today. So, instead of slicing up avocado’s and garlic, I’m here at the computer.

What is the key to overcoming? What is the key to getting through a day, minute by minute, victoriously – victoriously defeating the enemy within our thoughts and mind? Where is the strength we need at that very moment when we succumb to the lies of the enemy that we are not good enough or that we have messed up too much?

Father Yahuweh is always there; it is we who go on vacation/holiday in our mind – allowing other thoughts and the enemy to crowd out the peace we desperately  try to hold on to. But what is it that will give us that strength when we need it? It is like when your body is run down and it hasn’t been getting the right minerals, vitamins and proper nutrition it needs to sustain itself – thus it begins to cry out and moan and sob for it to be taken care of.

Here it is the same with our spirit man. The very foundation of strength, the very nutritious diet it needs is to stay close to the heart of Father. Only then, will we have the strength to sustain us throughout any onslaught of the enemy against our mind – for it is in the mind that we war against him.

Psalm 1 is about BEING planted by the rivers of water and Psalm 119 is about STAYING planted. Meditating and proclaiming both of these Psalms declares your loyalty to Master Yahuweh….and the enemy hates it!

Putting Yahuweh’s tender Word into our hearts and minds daily is what will keep us from straying off the path. For Yahuweh’s path is a good path and the enemy loves to throw distractions and detours. Only by having a mind of peace which comes from ‘staying and abiding’ by the streams of water, will we have the ability to overcome.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You! (Isaiah 26:3)

The Kingdom of Heaven is only available to those who ‘press in’ and take it. Remember, WE seek FIRST and then HE is FOUND.

So, as I head back to the cutting block in the kitchen, what thoughts are you going to be ‘cutting’ out – thoughts that rob you of your peace, joy and strength?

Psalm 119:165: “Great peace have those loving Your Torah, And for them there is no stumbling-block.”
